Vision Care by Co/op Optical
In
young eyes, the lens is soft and flexible. As we grow older,
the lens loses its flexibility and hardens or "sets."
By the time we reach 40, the lens begins to lose its ability
to change shape. Since the older lens cannot change its shape
as easily as it once did, the eye has increasing difficulty
focusing up close.
Because
of this, older people often have difficulty seeing nearby objects
clearly, and in reading fine print. This is a perfectly normal
condition called presbyopia.
There
is no exercise or medication that will reverse this process.
To help the eye focus, reading glasses or bifocals are needed.
New glasses will be required about every two years to overcome
visual blur caused by the increased hardening of the inter lens.
