7 Saves Your Sight

Clear vision is something many of us take for granted, but thanks to "7 Saves Your Sight," many area residents can give their eyes a second look. A free and simple test is all it takes to detect future vision problems.

Medical care is so advanced, doctors can diagnose you in a matter of minutes, and some tests you can do at home. The "7 Saves Your Sight" vision screening program is one example. It is fast, easy and available at your local CVS pharmacy. The question everyone seems to have about this test is: Does it really work?

"With our increased knowledge of vision science and how the visual system work, this test is much more sensitive and specific to the size mechanisms used in how we see things," Arthur Ginsberg, Ph.D., a vision scientist, said.

The test does work and work well, but it is important to understand one thing, this eye exam does not tell you what is wrong, only if something needs to get a second look. Don't expect any at-home health exam to give you a diagnosis -- that is something that only medically trained experts can do.

The best thing that at-home tests can do is give you more knowledge about your body.

"I have thought about what the results mean in general with eye sight and how precious it is," Kimberly Burk, who took the vision test, said.
