Shane
Don Shane joined Channel 7 as Sports Director in 1989. He anchors weekdays on "Action News" at 5, 6, 7 and 11 p.m. and at 10p.m. on "UPN Detroit Action News." Shane hosts The Big 10 Ticket, a weekly series that previews Big 10 football games.
Before joining WXYZ, Shane worked at WBZ-TV in Boston and at WMAQ-TV in Chicago. He was a weekday sports anchor for five years at WDIV-TV in Detroit, and the television play-by-play announcer for Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, and Detroit Pistons basketball games.
Shane's enthusiasm and energetic style has earned him several broadcasting awards. He has been honored with 11 Emmys, including best sports anchor, the Silver Circle Award, several Michigan Association of Broadcasters Awards, as well as a variety of Associated Press Awards.
As graduate of the University Of Colorado, Shane holds a Master's Degree in Journalism.
He lives in Oakland County with his wife, Mona, and their children, Justin and Lindsay. He is also involved in many local charities.
