Shay Ryan
Shay joined the Action News Weather Team in October of 2002, to lend her scientific expertise on the storms of Michigan. She delivers the "Doppler 7" forecast at Noon, 6 & 11pm on Action News Weekend and at 10pm on UPN Detroit Action News Weekend.
Shay has worked in several Midwest markets including; Lansing, Saginaw and Toledo, and loves the challenge of predicting the ever changing Michigan weather.
Shay has seen her share of dangerous weather, most notably, Hurricane Floyd. As part of the largest peacetime evacuation in U.S. history, Shay was positioned in the Emergency Management shelter, where she reported key safety updates to the local community on the storm's path and what precautionary measures to take.
A native of South Florida, Shay received her Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication from the University of Florida. She went on to gain a Master's degree from Mississippi State University in Geosciences (Broadcast Meteorology).
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping and skiing. She currently resides with her husband in Oakland County.
