Christy McDonald

Christy McDonald is the co-anchor of "Action News at 7p.m." and "UPN Detroit Action News at 10p.m." Since joining the "Action News" team in September 2000, McDonald has covered a range of stories including the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York City.

McDonald came to Channel 7 from WJRT-TV (ABC) in Flint and has been honored with numerous awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Detroit Press Club. She has received several Emmy nominations for producing and reporting, most specifically for her coverage of the September 11th attacks and the aftermath. She earned "Best Breaking News Reporting" honors by the Associated Press for her coverage of the riots at Michigan State University.

McDonald grew up in Troy and graduated from Troy High School. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Philosophy from the James Madison College at Michigan State University.

Christy currently resides in Oakland County with her husband, WDFN sportscaster Jamie Samuelsen.
