Jay Berry

Jay Berry is the sports anchor at 6 & 11p.m. on "Action News Weekend," and at

10p.m. on "UPN Detroit Action News Weekend," as well as the host of Channel 7's "Sunday Sports Update." In addition, Berry continues his duties as sports reporter for WXYZ. For more than two decades, Berry has witnessed the sports landscape in Metro Detroit change dramatically. He watched Grant Hill and Barry Sanders come and go, and covered both the birth and death of three stadiums in the city. Through it all, Berry has delivered the statistics and reported the stories. He has also covered the human factor, the individual struggles, and triumphs that make athletic competition a real and poignant metaphor for life.

Berry attended Bishop College, the University of Tulsa, and played college football while majoring in statistics at the University of Wyoming where he was named to a sophomore All-American Team.

Berry and his wife, Claudia, reside in Southfield with their 2 daughters.
